Decal Industry Standard

Decals are textures projected onto surfaces to add extra details—like dirt, scratches, bullet holes, or labels—without changing the base material or geometry. This technique has been part of 3D workflows since the 1990s.

If you wanted to replicate that in Blender, there’s no built-in one-click feature. You’d have to rely on workarounds—often imprecise and time-consuming—that quickly run into limitations.

Thanks to its shader-based system, you can bake decals directly into your textures. For this, our texture-baking tool Easy Bake 2 is a perfect match: https://inletzone.com/easy-bake-2/

And it’s not just color textures—you can also blend normal maps from both the base surface and the decal, giving you fully integrated, high-detail results.
